Quiet

It’s quiet here as I try to prioritize, clean, plan, and organize.

I got a late start on the de-cluttering of the new year, but I have had some success, especially our bedroom!  There’s much work to be done with the rest of the house and realistically, an ongoing project with no end in site.  I’m trying to break it down into small manageable projects and it’s working, but it is slow going.

I made a mistake with homeschool planning and only planned until Christmas, thinking that I would have plenty of time over the Holidays to work on the spring semester of Alex’s studies.  Unexpected events happened and I didn’t get to do any planning in Decembers or the first part of January.  I mostly winged our math lessons in January.  I want more than “just getting by” this month.   We’re doing a Native American block for the month of February and I can’t wait to share our adventures.

I’m attempting to re-arrange our daily rhythm.  In the past I’ve always waited until nap time to do our main lessons.  This works to get quiet one-on-one time, but it’s unpredictable and not really fair to Alex or me.  Sometimes nap time is late in the afternoon and I’m not good at balancing school work, hungry kids, and making dinner all at the same time.  And so we’re trying to move our main lesson time to the mornings so that the afternoon is free.  I’d like to eventually work in an hour of rest/quiet time after lunch when Alex can focus on handwork or independent reading while I encourage the little ones to nap.

Crafting is slow-goinf right now as well.  I’ve been knitting out of necessity and I’ve been working on the same pair of longies for a month.  I hope to finish them up sooner rather than later because my baby NEEDS them!  Many projects are floating around in my head, but I just don’t have the time to start on them right now.

Thank you for being patient with me, friends, while I get things in order!

  1. Life. It happens and it can be tough to plan for or around. It’s not a matter of patience though. I read your blog because I love you and love your family. Whatever you post, whatever time you have for updates, is awesome. M
